Strontium belongs to the group of alkaline earth metals and is a soft, silver, white or slightly yellow metal. When isolated it looks like a malleable metal, but due to its extreme reactivity to air, this element in nature is always combined with others.

Strontium compounds are mainly used in pyrotechnics and in particular in fireworks and warning flares thanks to its brilliant red. A small amount is used as a gas stripper in vacuum tubes to remove the last traces of air. Most strontium is used as carbonate in special glass for televisions and screens.

C.B.C. Group sells strontium carbonate.
